Aston Villa reach £44.4m agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for Moussa Diaby deal - Sky Sports

Aston Villa have reached an agreement in principle with Bayer Leverkusen over the transfer of Moussa Diaby, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports Germany journalist provided an update via his personal Twitter account (20 July) that Villa have agreed a fee of around £43.4million for the 24-year-old winger.

Plettenberg added that Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr are still trying to strike a deal but expects Villa to win the race for his signature.

Fantastic

If Unai Emery’s side can get this deal across the line then it will be another fantastic bit of business for the club, who are quietly winning the summer transfer window.

They have already confirmed the signings of Pau Torres of Villarreal and Youri Tielemans on a free transfer. This will once again be a very exciting signing for supporters.

After qualifying for the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, it is a very exciting time to be a Villa fan and it seems as if they are not resting on their laurels at Villa Park. Diaby is yet another sign of intent for a club who clearly want to push on.

The forward scored nine goals and provided eight assists in the Bundesliga last season and with time still on his side at the age of 24, there is no reason why he can’t get even better in the Premier League.

After watching West Ham lift the Conference League last season, Villa would’ve taken plenty of confidence from that and are certainly building a side that can challenge.

In other Aston Villa news, Alan Hutton believes this potential signing is set to make another player ‘feel the heat.’
