Bertrand Traore is finished at Aston Villa amid £50m replacement development
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Aston Villa’s winger position is in need of attention this window as Bertrand Traore is not good enough while Leon Bailey’s lack of form makes him unreliable, according to Ty Bracey.
Both Bailey’s and Traore’s futures at the club may be in question. The Jamaican managed just four league goals last season, while Traore struggled at his loan move to İstanbul Başakşehir netting just twice.
Diaby meanwhile has emerged as a candidate for Unai Emery to improve his distinctly average winger options [Daily Mail] and make the same move as Bailey did in 2021, with the 24-year-old Frenchman, who’s valued at £50million, claiming 14 goals in all competitions for Xavi Alonso’s side.
Bracey claims that the writing is on the wall for Traore, but Bailey has the potential and ability to work his way back into the Villa side and help the club achieve their ambitious goals.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “There’s been a lot of talk saying that Diaby’s attributes are similar to Leon Bailey’s but people just see pace and a left foot and assume they’re the same.
“Bailey hasn’t had the best spell at Villa. I’d love for it to work out for him and there be an instance where he can find his form and fight for his place at the club. But there’s been a few reports that he’s for sale.
“Going from the Bundesliga to the Premier League is not an easy task. It’s hard to adapt for anybody, I’d say.
“I would most definitely take Diaby if the rumours are true. We definitely need to add a winger to the ranks.
“I don’t think we’ll see Bertrand Traore stay at Villa. I think his time is done. We called him in during a time of dire need at the end of last season and he did what he needed to do. But I think long-term, if we’re going to push on for Europe he hasn’t got that quality.
“But Leon Bailey, the player is definitely in there. He’s just got to find his form and stay fit. That’s all it is with me.“
In other Aston Villa news, a Sky Sports journalist has claimed that Calum Chamber’s is “multi-functional” despite his role in Emery’s squad being in doubt.
