Jorge Mendes expected to offer Joao Felix transfer to Aston Villa again

Aston Villa will be offered another chance to sign Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix this summer, according to The Mirror.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition (02 June, pg 58) that Jorge Mendes is expected to offer the striker on a loan or permanent basis to Unai Emery.

Felix spent the second half of last season at Chelsea but failed to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge under Graham Potter or Frank Lampard.

Ryan Taylor wrote: “Aston Villa will be offered the chance to sign Joao Felix for a second time.

“Super agent Jorge Mendes is expected to offer Felix to Villa, either on loan or a permanent basis. Last December, Villa were approached over a possible move for Felix.”

Avoid?

This does not seem like the type of transfer that would suit Aston Villa, and certainly not Felix.

Emery has created a real powerhouse in his system at Villa Park, with hard-working players at the heart of it all, not flair players who think they are better than the rest.

Ollie Watkins epitomises that with his transformation under the Spaniard, and bringing in someone such as Felix could hold him back rather than push him forward.

With European football coming to town next season, strength in depth will be needed, but it has to be added smartly with additions that will make it better.

Throwing big money at the first possible signing because it has been offered is not smart, and that is exactly the response everyone will be expecting from NSWE and the rest.

An exciting summer lies ahead of the Villans, with links already coming out of every outlet around – fingers crossed the club get it spot on again.
