Aston Villa and Inter Milan are interested in signing Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah on loan this summer, as per a report from ESPN.

In the live transfer blog on 19 August, ESPN reported that Chelsea won't let him go permanently, but there is a possibility that he could be sent on loan this summer.

The Villans are looking to bolster their defence this summer following the injury to Diego Carlos.

Chalobah impressed heavily for the Blues last season.

He made his breakthrough under Thomas Tuchel in the 2021-22 campaign where he made 20 top-flight appearances. This season, he is yet to play.

Despite his impressive performances last season, Tuchel could allow him to move on.

Chelsea have bolstered their defence by signing Marc Cucurella from Brighton and Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.

On top of that, they are also looking to sign Wesley Fofana as they look to shape their defence. If they manage to sign Fofana, the Blues would be in a better position to let the 23-year-old leave the club.

The injury to Carlos has come as a big blow for Villa. He is set to be out for a long spell on the sidelines, and Steven Gerrard probably is looking to sign someone who has got experience of playing in the Premier League.

Chalobah is a fantastic defender and a loan spell would benefit him. While at Inter, he could gain a different kind of experience playing in a different league, a move to an ambitious club like Villa would actually help him grow as a player if he gets regular game time.
